Beads, Braids, & Bun 2

This is my daughter's newest hairstyle! Beads, braids, and a bun!!!. I did an almost similar hairstyle before (click here), but this time I decided to do things a little differently and have her whole head braided. This hairstyle took a whopping total of 5 1/2 hours to do! Don't forget, we do have to consider the length of her hair. We went to the hairstore earlier yesterday and she picked out these different shades of purple beads! One thousands beads for $3.49! Not bad, right?

I used water, BB Oil Moisturizer (for shine), Kids Organic Gro Strong Triple Action Stimulating Therapy (to reduce frizziness), Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner (for softness), and Soft & Beautiful Just For Me! 2-in-1 Conditioning Detangler (to help detangle, of course). As always, I pour BB Oil Moisturizer and HEHH Conditioner on a napkin and mix it together.

STEP ONE: I parted the back from ear to ear. I detangled it and combed through it! Don't mind that spare braid, I had another hairstyle in mind before I got to the end results.

STEP TWO: I parted three rows and individually braided her hair in strands. I then applied the multicolored purple beads, putting 15 on each braid strand. The end result of that looked like this!

STEP THREE: I made a small part at the top of her head and a short part at the back of her head so I can have a start and stopping point. This was my first time doing this, so I wasn't really sure how people braid in a ponytail. For extra measure, I braided a strand down and put beads on end. I call it My Alicia Keys Braid. LOL.

STEP FOUR: I braided the other side from the part at the top to the part to the back around her head. After I was done braiding, I took an ouchless band and wrapped her hair in a ponytail so I could apply the bun.

STEP FIVE: Applying the bun. I pulled her hair through the hole of the sock bun and evenly spread her hair out over the sock. Next, I wrapped the hair under the sock bun in a circle, twisted the loose end, and continued to wrap it in a circular motion and then secured it with a bobby pin and another ouchless band. THE END!!

Even though it was almost 1130pm when I got finished with Princess's hair, she still looked like she was ready to step out into the night and shut everything down!!

Saving A Few Bucks!

I just wanted to share with you guys real quick that using off  name brand products could be just as good as the name brand products. Like for instance, I bought black Goody's Ouchless Bands from Wal-Mart and they were $3.50 with I believe to be 5 bonus multicolored bands that came with it. I thought, hmm, that's a good price and got it. But then, I went to Dollar General and saw Belle's Ouchless Bands and they were only $1.00. Mind you, only 28 comes in a pack with 5 small bonus bands, BUT if you were to get 3 packs, you'd get a bit more bands PLUS it would still come out cheaper. I've used these bands before and they work like a charm. I love them.

I especially wanted to share the bands and the price because I check my stats of the site daily and I noticed that my 'Banding Waves Part I & II' gets viewed a lot, so maybe you mothers were looking to do this style but didn't want to spend near $4.00 on BANDS! I hope this helps!

Next is the purple spray bottle you see next to the bands. I saw a water spray bottle at the hair store and it was $1.49, I thought that was cheap myself because for some reason I expected it to be a little bit more..especially with it being in a hair store. The same day that I was going to get it, I happened to be in Wal-Mart and came across their water spray bottles and they were only $0.99! They not only come in purple, but other colors as well! They're located in the 'travel size' section in Health & Beauty!

Now, I wouldn't mind spending the money if I had too, but if I could get them from somewhere else and CHEAPER, then why the hell not? I figured I'd share this with you guys in case you were looking for the same things!

The other day and today I went shopping and brought some cute things from the hairstore, Wal-Mart & Target for low, low prices!

I also found these cute shoes that were on sale! I just had to get them for her! I may go back and get more...

Last but not least...I made these BEST FRIENDS matching bracelets for my daughter and her friend. I love the colors, albeit me putting the 'T' upside down on accident. That's my shame for the week. My daughter gave the 'Best' bracelet to her friend and popped the 'FRIENDS' bracelet a few hours ago. Boy I tell ya!

The second bracelet was made for a little girl in my daughter's class. She saw all the sporty bracelets and necklaces I made for my daughter and asked me to make her one...so I did. I'd love to make all the little girls in my daughter's class one. That would be nice, right?

Random Hair Accessories

Yesterday, I went shopping for new hair accessories for my daughter. A couple of things in the picture I had already, but just wanted to post them!

1. 10 Pk of Clear Hairbows, purchased for $0.99 at my local hairstore.
2. Yellow & Pink Hairbow Flower accessories, purchased for $1.50 each at my local hairstore.
3. Pink Mini Hairbrush, purchased for $0.99 at my local hairstore.
4. Pink Heart Shaped Hairclip, purchased for $0.99 at my local hairstore.
5. 4 Pk Headbands, purchased for $2.50 at Wal-mart.
6. White & Pink Bows, purchased on sale for $1.50 at Wal-Mart. Those bows were actually in the craft department, but I figured I could get superglue and glue a barette to the back of them and use them as hairbows!
7. Goody's Ouchless Black Bands, purchased for $3.27 at Wal-Mart. 50 comes in a pack with 5 bonus multicolored bands.

The reason I got the headbands was because the pink and brown polka dotted headband matched a particular outfit my daughter owns so I just HAD to get it!
